I suppose Annie Oakley shot in a dress, I could too. After owning Bluegrass Provisions Co now for 4 years, I figured there would come a point that I needed to learn how to ride English and shoot sporting clay.

While at Kiawah Island this past May, during the PGA Kiawah Island Golf Tournament, I decided to take a lesson from Elizabeth Fennell at the Kiawah Island Sporting Club. I had heard great things about her teaching skills, one of only four National Sporting Clays Association Level II instructors! Will, Elizabeth’s husband had purchased the dual-purpose bag from me that previous October at FITASC in Mississippi. So, I knew I needed to pay her a visit.
As always, trying to multi-task, I scheduled a lesson for a time on my way to a trunk show we were doing at Noddy of Charleston at the shops on Kiawah. That morning was crazy with PGA traffic, running late, I roll up in my dress ready for the trunk show that morning and to shoot. I think Elizabeth almost keeled over laughing at my get up. It was a great lesson and I made it to my event! Learned a ton! Can’t wait to take another lesson from Elizabeth.

I love Elizabeth’s quote on the Kiawah Island website…….
“One of my favorite things is to bring people into the sport. And I get to do a lot of that here at The Sporting Club.”
